Hy-Vee, one of the largest supermarket chains in the Midwest, opened the doors to their Helpful Smiles Technology Center (HST) in Des Moines, Iowa, which houses more than 250 digital development, brand marketing, and information technology specialists. With open seats for qualified candidates, one central question remained at the top of agendas: How do you lure top tech talent to work in the middle of a Midwestern cornfield?

In order to attract and retain talented employees, Hy-Vee decided to focus closely on their workplace environment and culture. Our team came into the picture to bring a New York City atmosphere into the main gathering and collaborative space. With a branded cityscape made to look like Times Square, employees are immersed in Big Apple culture—complete with a replicated jumbo screen, bright lights, and a permanent food truck with daily specials.

 

A digital tracker flashes updated company news along the walls while neon diner signs and cityscape lights cycle on and off throughout the day to complete the aesthetic. Each intricate design detail was created to evoke a bustling NYC feel. DI was pleased to work with Hy-Vee Construction and VPA Architects to fully transform the small space into a booming metropolis.

With a unique background that spans multiple roles, Brandon tries to approach each partnership with a specific emphasis on establishing long-term relationships for the betterment of all parties. He constantly works to align capabilities and client needs to identify key areas of opportunities for sustainable success.

As Corporate and Healthcare Account Director, Brandon’s focus is two-fold: collaborating with firms to elevate their spaces into modern, branded environments that make lasting impressions with their employees, visitors, and clients; and working with healthcare facilities to help create engaging and soothing environments that promote positive distractions and health-focused benefits.

Brandon graduated from the University of Kansas in 2013 with a BS in Marketing. Outside of the DI office, when not working to create remarkable experiences for his clients, Brandon can often be found at his favorite sports experience - watching the Kansas Jayhawks play at Allen Fieldhouse.

Chad Hutson has forged a notable career leading teams of creative & technology professionals, building the trust of clients & partners, and helping to transform physical spaces into exceptional experiences for some of the most recognized brands and entertainers in the world.

At Dimensional Innovations, Chad serves as Chief Strategy Officer, where he works across the experience design, build and technology team’s multiple practice areas to bolster digital innovation within physical spaces for its diverse clientele.

Formerly, as co-founder and CEO of specialized creative agency Leviathan, Chad led overall operations, business development and strategy for the organization, which was acquired by digital consultancy Envoy in 2017. His efforts fostered client relationships with Nike, Disney, Amazon, T-Mobile, FedEx, Universal, McDonald’s and Airbus among others, as well as recognition for the agency’s work by Wired, Fast Company, Forbes, Communication Arts, the FWA, Event Marketer, the One Show and more.

Prior to Leviathan, Chad co-founded and led digital agency eatdrink in 2002; managed creative technology projects for experiential marketing firm MC2; and handled operations for audiovisual company Soundelux Showorks; all of which helped shape a balance of leading both business and creative initiatives across a span of multiple decades.
