JA BizTown - CommunityAmerica Credit Union

JA BizTown combines in-class learning with a

simulated town to promote real world fundamentals.

Presented by CommunityAmerica, JA BizTown is a hands-on, mini-city simulation designed to educate the youngest of citizens on fundamental, financial decision-making skills. Dimensional Innovations was tasked with creating an exciting, interactive space that was relatable to kids while demonstrating the value of building personal savings at an early age — effectively connecting the dots between what they learn in school and the real world.

DI designed, built, fabricated and installed a gamified, 10 ft. tall wall display inside CommunityAmerica's storefront at JA BizTown called How to Be A Savings Champion. To play, kids spin the wheel and watch their ball travel down, through and across brightly colored pipes, ultimately joining the ball pool below to illustrate accumulated savings. The catch? Participants must add earned money to their “savings account” to play instead of spending it at other neighboring shops.

DI facilitated extensive research, collaboration and development to ensure this experience exceeded the client’s expectations and served as a fun, functional and educational element that doesn’t require a lot of upkeep and maintenance.

Fundamentals

JA Biztown teaches Kansas City youth the basics of business and savings

In addition to the gamified wall feature, DI also created, printed and installed branded, Kansas City-themed graphics throughout CommunityAmerica's JA BizTown Credit Union with design consultation from Sixofone. When not learning how to budget like a champ, visitors can compare their physique next to lifesize wall decals of beloved Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and former Royals second baseman and heavy-hitter Whit Merrifield. With adjacent walls colorfully lined with the downtown skyline, the exhibit’s design makes for a community-driven, interactive learning experience custom to Kansas City.

DI is proud to support these engaging initiatives as businesses like these continue to invest in youth education efforts for children of all ages.
