Streetscape Design from Dimensional Innovations
Designing pieces that have a positive impact on communities is vital to Dimensional Innovations. Streetscape design incorporates many different aspects of the work we do, which is one of the many reasons that we love this type of civic work. Whether you are looking to add a streetcar or bus station stop to a busy intersection, create a new walking bridge, or paint a large mural on your building, our expert design team is available to help.
Streetscape design is meant to beautify city streets. As a streetscape design agency, our team of experts knows how to create cohesive public spaces that attract the community and create positive experiences for all who encounter them.
Our streetscape design services range from things that improve safety, make our streets more beautiful, improve economic vitality. Since our team includes urban designers, landscape architects, and engineers, we can make a real difference in communities across the country. These team members can help develop transit shelters, parks, murals, and more.
As we start on every project, we try to learn more about the culture of the area. This will help us make informed design choices to present to your team. We will then collaborate to finalize plans, and this is where our team really gets to work. We use placemaking and signage to make every visitor's experience more positive. Our artists will start to create beautiful imagery to use throughout the area.
In Kansas City, we helped create 13 new streetcar shelters, along with 16 marker signs, that are vibrant and attention-grabbing. The shelters are made from steel and aluminum, and they feature edge-lit glass panels, as well as tough acrylic rooves. Each shelter also has custom ipe wood seats for people to wait on.
The Harrisonville Clocktower is another streetscape project that our team is proud of. The 100-year-old clock tower was in need of some updating, so our team set to work refurbishing the tower's faces. Each face needed to be replaced. We created new aluminum faces that look just like the original 12-foot faces. Fortunately, we were able to use the original Roman numerals and hands.
The Kansas City Library project was an inspiring experience for our team. The parking garage at the downtown library was transformed into a "bookshelf" featuring some of the rare books representing Kansas City, as chosen by local residents. Using imaging software, our team used photographs of books and properly placed the desired titles. Since the large-scale graphics are on clear plexiglass windows, the books let light into the garage. They are supported with a simple aluminum construction.
