Where Healing Takes Flight
Challenge: Children’s Wisconsin wanted to make the first floor of its North Tower more welcoming, playful and engaging for pediatric patients and their families, while also creating a meaningful way to recognize influential donors. The hospital needed an experience that could serve as a positive distraction in a healthcare setting and support both visitor engagement and donor recognition.

Cannon DesignSolution: In collaboration with architect Cannon Design, DI created three custom digital interactives for the space.
Visitors are welcomed by a “Donor Wall Bookshelf,” a fabricated display of imitation books that highlights top-tier donors and includes an inset monitor with a custom application for featuring volunteers, additional donors and time-sensitive announcements.
Nearby, the “Magic Story Book” offers a motion-tracked digital coloring experience with regionally inspired scenes.
The third installation, “Let Your Dreams Soar,” invites visitors to design a digital paper airplane, add a personal message and send it to friends or family by text or email, while other visitors can catch and read shared messages.
Together, these interactive elements help create a warm, vibrant pediatric environment that engages visitors and honors the community supporting Children’s Wisconsin’s mission.
44,000+ Messages Sent
