Where patient experience

can have a profound impact on patient healing

When it comes to combating a long wait at the doctor’s office, healthcare professionals are constantly searching for ways to improve the experience for both patients and their families. With a blank canvas on the first and second floor lobbies, Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital came to Dimensional Innovations with a challenge to develop a new interactive waiting experience. While helping to pass the time, the installation also needed to remain flexible enough to accommodate patients once they were called in for their appointment, so they would not feel they were missing out on an exciting ending.

different national recognitions were awarded in 2020 to the hospital for exceptional pediatric care.

 

Partnering with well-known Danish artist, Per Arnoldi, designs were developed to match the color specifications of his additional signage and wayfinding work throughout the new building. Using gesture-tracking technology and high-end Barco displays, the colors remain vivid—even with natural light—and allow for a highly-engaging interactive experience without the need for physical touch, thus minimizing the potential spread of infections.

 

In addition to helping pass the time, the wall was intentionally designed to slow children down and encourage them to make controlled, thoughtful movements, while also keeping the space peaceful and minimizing over-stimulation. The construction manager for Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital was Turner Construction and the architect was HKS Architects.

Outside of the office, Alex enjoys spending his time exploring the mountains of Colorado with his wife and two dogs. Additionally, Alex is a CrossFit Level 1 trainer and coaches classes several nights per week.

Drew Berst is the Practice Director for Collegiate Sports at Dimensional Innovations and is incredibly proud to lead a team that has achieved over 400% revenue growth while also tripling their market share since 2015. Success had been driven by DI’s unique, design-build approach to project delivery, master brand planning partnerships, and interactive technology experiences in addition to their traditional work in facility graphics and branding.

At DI, Berst is the single point of accountability for all collegiate sports clients and his main focus is to live and breathe college sports, in other words, keep doing what he has been doing his entire life. Professionally, Berst has been working in the sports facility industry for over 12 years and has been involved in over $2 billion worth of athletic facility projects.

Berst was born and raised in Kansas City and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas, as well as an MBA from the University of North Carolina – Wilmington. He’s steadfast in his belief that there is no such thing as a family vacation, unless a sporting event is involved.

Most importantly, Berst is a husband to Betsy and a parent to three girls – Edie, Nora and Margot.
