Immerse yourself in the magical realm of CreatureVerse, where you can create and customize your very own avatar, and set out to explore fantastical landscapes and whimsical environments. Originally ideated as the ‘Wilderverse’ for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, CreatureVerse was created as a positive distraction that transports young patients to a world of magic and wonder, providing an escape from the stresses of their treatments.
The fantastic nature of CreatureVerse takes visitors on a creative journey of self-discovery and self-healing. Players can gather ‘Collectibles’ and spend them on stunning light shows and effects. Users can spend ‘Firefly’ collectibles to create ‘Firefly Shows,’ a massive and growing display of color and light. They are rewarded for each new ‘Firefly Show’ with access to unique accessories. From cowboy hats to electric wings and more, the opportunities for customization are nearly limitless!
With its user-friendly web browser application and adaptable software platform, CreatureVerse is not just a fun opportunity for kids and adults alike to create and explore, it’s also a powerful tool for brands and healthcare institutions looking to engage their audiences in a truly captivating and customized way.
Case Study: MU Children's Hospital
Designed with the patient experience in mind, this brand-new $232MM, 146-bed pediatric hospital goes beyond a traditional healthcare aura to create a warm and colorful environment suited for even the littlest of patients. The DI scope exceeds physical design, as we created various interactive tech elements throughout the space to be used as positive distractions for pediatric patients. NatureVerse is interactive patient engagement technology that invites patients to scan the QR code located on the first-floor lobby, create their own animal avatar, and explore a wondrous world seemingly far away from treatment.
After selecting and customizing their animal avatar, players can collect fireflies and release them as colorful fireworks based on the color combinations they’ve gathered. Returning patients can pick up where they left off as they venture through a captivating world of fantastical landscapes alongside fellow players. The animals and environment within NatureVerse are a direct replication of the animal sculptures and graphics inside the hospital. This physical and digital integration allows for brand consistency and a customized connection. This gamified digital adventure is our latest version of DI’s CreatureVerse, which was customized for this pediatric hospital’s theme and branding.
CASE STUDY: ZOO KNOXVILLE CREATE A CREATURE
Zoo Knoxville selected Dimensional Innovations to design and fabricate their brand new Amphibian and Reptile Center (ARC), which opened to the public to critical acclaim in April of 2021. The DI team created various interactive experiences inside ARC, including the “Croakers” frog life cycle game, in which visitors start as a tadpole and try to make it to froghood before they croak.
Arguably the most popular custom ARC experience is the Create-a-Herp immersive theater. This 270-degree curved, immersive space invites visitors to create their own “herp” creature and set it free in one of three environments: forest, river, or desert, to see how it fares in the wild. Since Zoo Knoxville’s opening, over 280,000 unique “herps” have been created.
The Create-a-Herp experience was designed to showcase one of the country’s largest herpetology collections and highly-regarded research conservations. Sharing their mission through these interactions, Zoo Knoxville aimed to gain more memberships, spread awareness of endangered wildlife and share stories of conservation through social media. ARC brought a noticeable increase in visitor satisfaction rates – 74% were delighted with their experience compared to 25% of the prior reptile & amphibian area. The zoo welcomed nearly 600,000 visitors in 2021 alone – an increase of 29.8%
