Dane G. Hansen Museum

DI was selected to fully renovate their entire 7,500-square-foot museum space, including the permanent exhibit, touring exhibit space, bustling community room, and administrative/office spaces. The renovation also included several outdoor elements, including museum signage and a full-scale replica of a “stretch” prairie schooner on the museum grounds that younger visitors can climb into and explore. DI teamed with General Contracting partner DI Build to seamlessly carry out the entire renovation from the first concept drawing to the final nail in the wall.

In order to preserve and better tell the story of Mr. Hansen, his family, and the remarkably rich history of the town of Logan, KS, DI worked closely with museum board members and staff to re-conceptualize and redesign the permanent exhibit from the ground up. The space was reorganized to better suit the stories, which were thoroughly researched and presented in several layers to appeal to many audience types. Hundreds of artifacts were documented and reconfigured for a more compelling display and better story continuity.  Understated digital technology stations were added where appropriate to provide depth of information for the visitors who desire it, while keeping the feel of the museum elegant and timeless.
