Getting lost in reality is easier than ever with immersive technology, which is any technology that gives the user an extended or new reality entirely by leveraging the 360-degree space. Immersive technology includes 360 content, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and extended reality (XR). Immersive technology is used to make people feel like they are experiencing something spectacular, regardless of where they are in the world.
With the help of Dimensional Innovations, you can use this unique technology to your advantage. Creating remarkable experiences for your customers has never been easier than it is today with immersive technology.
Types of Immersive Technology at Dimensional Innovations
There are actually a few different types of immersive technology. Below, we have broken down each technology that DI uses to help clients.
Creating Immersive Experiences
At Dimensional Innovations, we are all about experimenting with different types of technology, which has led us down the path of immersive technologies like VR, AR, and more. We have incorporated immersive technology into many of our projects to take multisensory experiences to the next level.
As an immersive technology company, we can help you identify opportunities to incorporate emerging technologies into your project. It is also important to note that not all XR experiences require the use of a headset, so even highly-trafficked experiences can be enjoyed without the hassle of a headset.
With immersive experiences, you make it possible for your museum visitors to see what life was like as a soldier in WWI or take on Evel Knievel’s daring stunts. However, museums aren’t the only application for immersive technology projects.
The School of Engineering at Kansas State University installed an interactive screen at the main entrance to provide a unique first impression to all building guests. This immersive display provides visitors with an in-depth look at the eight different KSU engineering school departments, campus maps, engineering club information, and so much more, including a donor recognition feature.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are hockey superstars. With three Stanley Cups under their belts, the organization wanted to create an interactive experience that allowed guests to see the Stanley Cup regardless of who has ownership of it at any given time. To do this, we created a virtual Stanley Cup exhibit that shows each of the Cups as they were when the Penguins brought them home. These Stanley Cups are shown are large touchscreens. In total, the entire project incorporates 18 augmented reality screens.
