Russell Stover is reigning in its 100th anniversary with a variety of decadent, chocolate-filled celebrations – one of which much larger than the rest, literally. Aiming to set the new world record for the largest box of chocolates, Russell Stover turned to DI to make their king-size vision an edible reality. Our team was honored to successfully create the record-breaking, oversized replica of the classic Russell Stover copper box of real, assorted chocolates.
The box measures 30’ long, 15’ feet wide and nearly 2’ deep, taking a DI team of 20 over 600 hours to design, engineer, develop, assemble, de-assemble, and reassemble for its big debut inside the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, MO.
Despite its cardboard exterior, the laminated box weighs over 2,300 lbs and held the newest world record of novelty chocolate – 5,616 pounds! We created and cut the box’s foam insert using our LSAM printer – one of the largest 3D printers in the world.
All chocolates inside the box were gifted, donated, raffled, and consumed (we happily helped out with that last one). DI was delighted to support Russell Stover in this larger-than-life quest, ultimately resulting in a sweet, sweet victory.
